Eighth Democratic Debate to be Held Feb. 7

On February 7th, the first democratic debate of 2020 will take place in New Hampshire. This will be the eighth Democratic

debate of the presidential race overall. With only 7 candidates qualified so far, Politico is saying that this debate will be “the smallest, whitest one yet.”

Currently, there are only 7 candidates who qualify for the debate. According to Vox the candidates are 

  1. Former Vice President Joe Biden 
  2. Former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg 
  3. Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) 
  4. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT)
  5. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA)
  6. Billionaire activist Tom Steyer
  7. Entrepreneur Andrew Yang

While these are the only candidates qualified right now, Candidates have until 11:59 p.m. on February 6 to qualify. According to CBSNews: “The Democratic National Committee released new criteria in mid-January. For this debate, candidates must attract 5% support in four national or state polls out of New Hampshire, South Carolina or Nevada, or 7% polling in two state polls from the list of qualified polls.”
