The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, and Prince Harry, both announced that they would be pulling away from the royal family after years of what many call “a toxic life.” Throughout her time with the royal family, the Duchess found herself on the receiving end of racially insensitive remarks, such as she had, “rich and exotic DNA.” stated by the prime minister’s sister or that, “Harry’s girl is (almost) straight outta Compton.” Which came out of a BBC story over the crime in the area the Markle used to live. Many African-British citizens were wondering why no one in the royal family was doing anything, and many attributing this to the reason why they wanted to leave. Though the two claim there just pulling away and wanting to be more financially independent from the royal family. Even the royal family is not in their corner, her father claiming that they are “cheapening the royal family.” Even with this “cheapening”, it seems their leaving is bringing money with them, or more precisely a revenue stream. There wedding alone brought billions to the economy from travel and memorabilia sales. Some are considering this to be a reason of anger from the royal family, but they’re not the only ones many Britons disapprove of their departure. Seeing better ways it could have been handled.
