What’s Happening in the NBA

The NBA has a whole new generation of stars emerging as top players in the league. Ja Morant was named rookie of the month for the third month in a row which tied Pau Gasol for the most in franchise history, and we’re aren’t even at the all-star break yet. Morant averages 17 points per game and 7 assists. Then you have 6’6’’, 284 lb, 19-year-old Zion Williamson averaging 19.6 points per game and 2.1 assists in the seven games he’s played in so far.

The New York Knicks announced the firing of their team president Steve Mills just two days before the trade deadline. Since Mills was hired in 2017, it’s been a downward turn of events since then. Scott Perry was named the interim for the rest of the season. This comes as quite a shock as the trade deadline is less than two days away. The Clippers, Knicks, and Wizards have finalized a three-way deal. The Clippers get Marcus Morris and Isaiah Thomas from the Wizards. Jerome Robinson joins the Wizards from the Clippers, and the Knicks receive Moe Harkless and a first-round pick in 2020 from the Clippers. Russell Westbrook joined the 20,000 point club as the Rockets defeat the Lakers 121-111. Westbrook scored 41 points in the 37 minutes he appeared in.
