Rookie Sensation

At just 19 years of age, Zion Williamson is the next superstar the NBA has been looking for. The rookie phenom has taken the league by storm ever since returning from his meniscus tear in late January. Since his debut, Williamson averages 24 points per game, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists.  Williamson was also named rookie of the month for the month of February. Coming off the best game of his young career, Williamson scored 35 points against the juggernaut Los Angeles Lakers in the Pelicans 122-114 loss. Williamson went 75% from the field and managed 7 rebounds, but turned the ball over 6 times. Williamson has had some problems with turnovers as he’s averaged 2.8 turnovers per game and 42 total turnovers.

The expectations for Williamson have been sky high since his incredible one and done season at Duke which led him to be the number one overall draft pick by the New Orleans Pelicans. Williamson attended Spartanburg day school which was a private school located in South Carolina. Williamson was a no doubt five-star recruit and was ranked in the top 5 players in the class of 2018. Williamson led Spartanburg to three straight state titles. Williamson became an internet sensation with his highlight dunks and blocks in high school.

Williamson is a top candidate for the rookie of the year award, as he’ll battle it out with Grizzlies rookie sensation Ja Morant. Morant was the second pick in the NBA draft behind Williamson.
