December 18, 2015 was a magical day for ‘Star Wars’ fans worldwide. The 3rd biggest box office hit ever, the movie was supposed to be the third running of the famous and loved ‘Star Wars’ movie saga. Every year since then, there has been a new ‘Star Wars’ movie for fans to watch and enjoy. ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ came out in 2016, ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ came out in 2017, and this year ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ came out in theaters May 10. This movie was the background story of a popular ‘Star Wars’ character that featured in four of the movies beforehand, Han Solo.

Han Solo was a main character of the four movies that he participated in and was among the favorites. His death in the franchise shocked many and destroyed many people’s desire to watch the galactic films at all. Harrison Ford, the actor who played Han Solo, did not get angry at the studio for killing him off. In fact, he encouraged it! That being said, Harrison Ford did not return for his role of Han Solo in the new movie, as there really wasn’t a purpose for him being there except for the trailers.

The purpose of ‘Solo’ was to explain some of the mystery behind the character and to clear the fog that was otherwise hiding his past as a person as well as a thief. This was expected by many to be a bad representation of the character that fans have come to love and enjoy, but it was hoped by much more that this movie would give them a clearer look at the history and the reasons behind the galactic smuggler. Many of the original fans were worried that their favorite character would be tarnished by some 20-year-old actor that had no right to the name of Han Solo, but all of their worries were turned to dust as they left the theater with an empty bucket of popcorn.

‘Solo’ was generally liked by all and was a great movie with a good background story that provided all the details that one may want about the character while also opening up a wide variety of locked doors that really make the watcher more and more curious about the adventures of Han Solo. Personal stories about the character are explained or rather shown as the famous Kessel Run was made in the bragged 12 parsecs. Only fans of the original movies will understand that this is a feat that Han Solo has been bragging about for years and is rather famous for in the smuggling world as shown in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ as one of the main characters recognizes him and asks the validity of the mysterious feat.

Not only that, but ‘Solo’ really opens up new doors for Disney to make more movies and adventures for Han Solo and his acquaintances, which really is a wonderful thing considering that the viewers all generally loved the storyline as well as the new actors that follow through with the expectations of the characters. If Disney follows through with the pattern, then we might be able to see another movie about the famous smuggler and his friend the tall beast in the next couple of years.
